8 facts about this year’s Belfast Comedy Festival ‘Belly Laughs’ 2017

• Belfast Comedy Festival is the only dedicated comedy festival in Northern Ireland.

• The festival runs from 2 – 8 October.

• It is the largest showcase of international and local humour in Northern Ireland.

• There are 52 events, involving over 150 performers, in 20 venues across the city.

• This is the 6th year of the festival with funding provided by Belfast City Council, the Arts Council for Northern Ireland and ASM.

• The festival strives to entertain, inspire and inform through stand up, cabaret, improvisation, film, music, sketches, theatre, open mic competitions, storytelling, workshops, seminars, club nights, and kids events.

• The festival will also explore how to improve the comedy scene in the city and provide a learning platform for people interested in comedy.

• The festival aims to support and nurture local talent, both within the festival programme, and by profiling the city’s comedy clubs all year round.
