7 things we enjoyed this week (Dec 28 – Jan 3)

Here we are, the first weekend of 2016 is over and you are probably thinking about that first day back at work or getting the kids school stuff ready for the first day of the new term.

Hopefully you’ve had a fun Christmas and New Year and you are looking forward to the year ahead.

No doubt you’ve removed the decorations and your house is looking bare again. Don’t you just hate removing all that sparkle, but love getting your home back to normal.

I’ve been meaning to do a weekly review for a while, so now that it’s the new year, one of my 2016 goals is to do just that, a roundup of the week.

The 7 things!

We’ve been working away as always with a few guest blog posts on Belfast Times including one that seemed to grab your attention, the one about the 10 things he learnt when he came to Belfast. What a great piece by Clare Bowie, it seems you all enjoyed it as much as I did. Thanks Clare!

Me and Tina Leggs Tantrum on New Years Eve

New Years Eve – What a night! A group of us headed to the Birdcage in Stranmillis for a night of tapas, partying, dancing and being entertained by Tina Leggs Tantrum. You may remember I reviewed the Birdcage late last year, and enjoyed it so much, we all just had to spend NYE there. Here is our countdown moment, to ‘Let it go’ a club remix….

The consequences of a big party night out is as expected a huge case of the munchies, I wonder why? Luckily the lovely folks at Domino’s launched their one touch ordering facility on their app for the Apple Watch. All you need to do is head to their website, set up the Easy Order account for your favourite pizza, then when you are lying on the sofa and really don’t want to move and have your Apple Watch on, then click on the app and order. Perfect for a lazy day. Oh and it turns out that New Years Day is hugely busy for Domino’s. Whatever happened to those diet new year resolutions?

Our reviewer Anne Hailes had great news to share this week in the form of an MBE. She had a month of keeping this secret from family and friends, but most certainly enjoyed a great end to her year once the New Years Honours List was announced. Congratulations Anne! Read about her reaction on her own blog.

Returning to St George’s every weekend is always a highlight for me. I’ve been trading there at my stall for over 4 years now, I’ve made some great chums and always have a laugh. Most of all I love chatting to my customers and this weekend two customers gave me two of my highlights of the week.

The first was a customer who returned to my stall having read an article in Northern Women. I had mentioned a customer who had attended some of the events on my Opera House and Ulster Hall designs. It was lovely to see her again and we had such a laugh.

Another customer turned out to be a fellow blogger who lives in London and was on a visit home. Laura Thomson blogs at Tales Of Adventure, Big and Small. A great blog with some great vlog’s, something I will have more of on Belfast Times this year.

Finally, I definitely enjoyed this image…. And the comment from a Facebook follower saying she’ll be an old lady before she really knows the answer.

Have a great week

Jeff Meredith
