6 FREE things to do on a wet Bank Holiday Monday
It’s not a holiday for everybody, but there will be a sizeable amount of people off on any Bank Holiday. In typical behaviour for a holiday it’s due to rain and rain and rain. Imagine that! After such a lovely run of weather.
So what FREE things can you do on a wet bank holiday?
Yeah it’s a daunting thought! But give your fingers and thumbs a break, and switch off your phone, your laptop, your tablet and your games console. Just switch it all off and stop the information overload for the day.
Read a book
When did you last sit on the sofa with a good book and read for the day? Here’s your opportunity! Once you’ve switched all your technology off, focus on one of the most wonderful experiences; reading a book. Escape into another world and take your imagination on a journey with a good read.
Go for a drive and escape to the country
You probably already have fuel in your car, so why not go for a drive around our beautiful country. There’s so much to see and enjoy. The awesome Antrim coast looks amazing in all weathers, Strangford Lough is equally stunning, or even head to Crawfordsburn or Helen’s Bay beach and kick about in the sea. Belfast has loads of parks to enjoy; when did you last go to the park to just be. Throw a waterproof coat on and get outside.
….Just Get Outside!
Yeah there’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing choices, and anyway it’s only rain. So get out in that rain with your wellies on (or not!) and feel the joy of the great outdoors. Hey you could even participate in one of the joys of childhood by dancing in the puddles and enjoying that innocence of youth.
Places to go
You could of course go to the Ulster Museum for one of the very few FREE Bank Holiday family destinations.
This wonderful museum opens every Bank Holiday Monday and it’s a must see FREE thing to do. Where else would you come face to face with an ancient mummy or stand beside a dinosaur! Find out more at www.nmni.com/um
Learn about the City Hall with a FREE tour after you’ve window shopped and avoided buying an expensive Pick n Mix at the City Hall continental market.
The extraordinary City Hall has free tours most days and this Bank Holiday Monday the tour times are at 11am, 2pm and 3pm. It’s a truly amazing building inside and out and with their new million pound exhibition it just got even better! More here.
