6 1/2 things we love about Pizza Express

Here we are, another update on our fab foodie ‘things we love’ feature. So far we’ve covered Nando’s, Kua Aina, Fratelli  and coming soon is the restaurant at The Old Inn Crawfordsburn and the newly opened Alfredo’s in Lisburn Square. But for this feature it’s all about Pizza Express.

The Pizza Express on Bedford Street is probably our most visited restaurant ever because it’s our pre Movie House cinema dinner destination.

So what do we love about it?

This recently refurbished restaurant is one of the many restaurants in Belfast’s new Linen Quarter and it keeps getting busier, probably why the refurb was needed to accommodate more pizza/pasta lovers. And it looks even better with some comfier seats, more art work and more buzz.

The Pizza of course. With a healthier less calorific Leggera, or a huge thin and crispy Romana, there’s plenty of size options to suit everyone with a big selection of toppings. The latest news that they are ditching my all time favourite, the Carbonara Pizza has left me a bit lost, but I’m sure their new Spring menu will have something delicious to try.

The pasta dishes. With Pollo Pesto or a traditional Lasagne, the chain serves up some super dishes of tasty Italian delights.

The offers. Pizza Express seem to have endless offers, vouchers and promotions. From free dough balls if you fill in a questionnaire to offers with your Nectar card. But our favourite is to exchange our Tesco clubcard vouchers for Pizza Express vouchers. Why would you not upgrade a £10 clubcard voucher to £40 Pizza Express vouchers! Winning!

Desserts. Again with an Italian theme, the desserts are the best. You can’t beat a big Chocolate Sundae or a coffee with a mini dessert on the side. I’m getting cravings as I type this.

The staff. The team at Bedford Street are always a pleasure. I guess it helps that we are mostly on first name terms now, such are the frequency of our visits.

Finally, for those of you who need the option, you can go gluten-free!

All you need to do now is find a voucher, find a pizza express restaurant, find your favourite item on the menu, maybe order a glass of wine/beer/prosecco, and sit back, relax and enjoy!

Oh, and they are expanding with another City centre restaurant opening in the Cathedral Quarter.

Thanks to Pizza Express for inviting us along to their relaunched restaurant.

NEW MENU ITEM JUST LAUNCHED – Could this be the replacement to my Carbonara pizza?

For the 1st time ever, the company have launch a Hawaiian Pizza!

Look closer and you can see the tasty Prosciutto Crudo which has been matched with a contrasting sweet chilli pineapple chutney, sharp red onion, and finished with a sprinkling of chilli flakes all atop a creamy béchamel base. Served on PizzaExpress’ thin and deliciously crispy Romana base.
