With the return of the Love Metro £2 special Saturday Day ticket, Translink are enticing more people to give the bus a try and join the 500,000 plus Metro passengers already using the bus on a weekly basis. The great fare deal offers unlimited Saturday travel across all Metro services from 9.30am – 7pm from Saturday 7th September to 16th November 2013 inclusive.
Carol Lundy, Metro Brand Manager said, “This special £2 fare remains very popular with our passengers and has encouraged many more to give the bus a go – often leading them to become regular users. Taking the car into the city can mean expensive parking and fuel costs but the bus is very flexible, convenient and great value. Typically a motorist travelling from the Shore Road into the City Centre could save up to £4.51 or from the Antrim Road could save up to £3.59 per Saturday if they used our £2 Metro Day ticket.
“In addition, the new bus lanes introduced over the summer in Belfast are already delivering real improvements for the thousands of people using Metro every day. More space for buses actually means priority access for passengers. So with faster journeys, regular services and great value fares we hope even more people will avoid the hassle of driving and expense of parking and leave the car at home.
“Whether it’s for shopping; sight-seeing many of Belfast’s famous attractions; socialising with friends over a coffee or meeting later in the evening for a drink we want to remind people that Metro services are the smart choice for those travelling in Belfast on Saturdays.
“Metro passengers will also have the opportunity to benefit from some great offers on selected Saturdays across the campaign including an exclusive promotion with Robinson and Cleaver Urban Deli, whereby Metro passengers will receive a complimentary scone when purchasing a cup of tea or coffee upon production of a valid Metro ticket*. Passengers can also be in with a chance of getting their hands on a complimentary Metro bag for life upon production of a valid Metro ticket at selected events and venues,” concluded Carol.
